- In a departure from its normal business operations, Apple has recently teamed up with a bio-tech company to investigate the possibility of cloning human organs. You have been tasked with creating a press release to make this decision public and get ahead of any negative press. Compose a statement to the press to explain Apple’s decision and mitigate potential negative reactions.
- What is one public response to Apple’s news that you would anticipate? Do you think that your classmate successfully mitigated this response? State your reasons why or why not. If you do not think your classmate mitigated the public response enough, how would you modify the release to compensate?

I’m proud to announce that Apple has teamed up with Clonaid which is a biotech company who states they created the first human clone who happens to be a 7-month-old baby. When people hear the word cloning they usually start thinking about people chopping up bodies which are not the case without companies. Clonaid works with adult stem cells because it does not cause a destruction of the embryos versus using embryonic stem cells it does require destruction of embryos. The chances of someone being struck by lightning are rare but cloning is even rarer especially a baby. We have organs that do not work as they should as we start to age there is a chance of being able to use an organ that is cloned. Cloning human organs can be risky but I believe the advantages weigh out the disadvantages. For one if you need a kidney you have to be placed on a waiting list, as we all know it can take many years to get the call from a donor. Your condition only gets worse each day if you wait for so long so you can help your body if you get a kidney right away. Once one organ shuts down the rest of your organs are not very far behind. A patient can keep their own stem cells to treat any health conditions that may arise in the future for that patient. This can even work for your family members if someone in the family is sick you can help your family member out by giving them an organ they are in need of. This will help to keep more people alive and it will hopefully decrease the death ratio when it comes to health care. I also believe families will feel safer knowing the organ is either their own or it’s coming from another family member.
I would anticipate that people would be excited to hear about Apple’s news. When it comes to saving lives I believe everyone should be happy. I also believe there will be questions as to how this will all take place and the necessary steps.
